The Glory Gates Quartet Biography

The Glory Gates Quartet was founded by the lead singer, Rich McIntyre, on April 1, 2001, as God called us to be a part of the music ministry of our Church, the Christ Community Church of Laguna Hills, CA, and to proclaim His gospel. The name of the group was selected as we were practicing to sing "I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy". The song contains the words "city called glory" and "As I entered the gates" in the first verse, and from these wonderful words, God put within our hearts the call to name our group the "Glory Gates Quartet"!

Our members consist of Rich McIntyre, lead singer, Bob Jones, baritone, Tim Shoemaker, tenor and Rob Marton, Bass.

Our roots have been and continue to be totally southern gospel music. We began as a part time group who limited our singing in our Church's Sunday morning worship services and concerts at our various Church functions. As we grew together as a group, we began to receive invitations to sing at other churches in our area of south Orange County, California. Now we perform concerts all over southern California and have even been invited for concert tours in Romania, which has evolved into a significant ministry for our group. Please visit our "Romania" section for further information on our ministries there. We have formed the Glory Gates Quartet Foundation to handle our Romania ministries and those who financially support these ministries with us receive tax deductions for their contributions, since we are a California 501 (c), non-profit organization.

It has become increasingly clear as to why God has called the members of GGQ to Romania. It's as simple as this. We sing and the people of Romania love music, and believe it or not, they love southern gospel music! Can you imagine that? It's clear to us! This is our "entry into churches, State run orphanages, homes for the elderly, city parks, villages; etc. It dawns on us that if we came just to "speak" the gospel, the reception would not be as good and it would be much tougher to be welcome in most places in Romania. Believe it or not, even the non-Christians love to hear us sing. An American singing group is a curiosity to them and they will come to listen. The singing gives us the credibility that we need to get us into places we normally would not be welcome. This is awesome to us how God is using us!

We have produced FIVE CDs; "Traveling Down that Glory Road", "The Cross Makes the Difference" and "Who Am I", "Good ol' Gospel Hymns" and our latest is released on 7/23/07 called "Live from Romania... its Sunday Night Live", We have a committed group of guys and we are excited about the direction God is leading us.

We encourage you to keep checking our website for our concert schedules and any updates for what GGQ is doing!

We thank God for giving us the enthusiasm and opportunity to sing for Him. It is a ministry that we all love dearly, and we are truly blessed ourselves by the Holy Spirit, as we minister to the body. We thank our wives for their continual support and for bearing with our practices and constant singing. I'm sure that they all know the songs by heart too!
