Rich McIntyre - Lead

Testimony
Hello GGQ Supporters!!
I can tell you one thing for sure; I love the Lord and want to serve
Him!! Sometimes I wish I had a “better” or more “interesting” testimony,
but, on the other hand, I’m glad I don’t, because I really have not
experienced a “heavy” past with a life that was void of God, where I was
in trouble & sunk to the depths of sin. Nope! In actuality, I was born &
raised into a strong, Christian home with a family who always went to
church, prayed, read the Bible together and was very involved in church
activities. It was a wonderful upbringing.
However, even living in such a strong Christian environment, I needed
to make the same personal commitment to Christ as any other person does in
order to receive God’s promise of everlasting life with Him. We just don’t
inherit eternal life from our parents! I decided to accept Christ into my
heart when I was 8 years old when I knelt down with one of our church
members & prayed this prayer; “Lord Jesus I love & need you. I open the
door of my life & receive you as my savior & Lord. Thank you for forgiving
my sins. Take control of my life & make me the kind of person that you
want me to be.” From that point on, Jesus Christ has made a difference in
my life that truly warranted making such a life changing decision, not to
mention that I have the opportunity of spending eternity with Him!
It has been very comforting! I now know that I can look to Jesus Christ
for anything and He will take care of it. It may not be what I wanted, or
in my time, but I knew it was what He wanted in His time. From this faith
in Him and what he would do for me, I was truly blessed with a life of
hope, encouragement and comfort; however, my life was not void of
problems, but it was just that I had God to turn to for resolutions to
those problems. I love His promise that He will always take care of those
who trust and have faith in Him!
With that in mind, my favorite verse, and the one that I try & look to
almost every day of my life for everything that I do is found in Proverbs
3:5-6 and says; “Trust in the Lord with all your heart & do not lean on
your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him & He will make
your paths straight.” Wow! How awesome is that? But also, how many times
do we have to learn the hard way to follow this promise, as we try to do
things ourselves and fail? Hmmmmm? Ouch!
What has the Lord Done to Change My Life?
Wow! I thank God daily for choosing me to be a part of His Family! I
cannot imagine how I would have met the trials, shared my joys or had
peace and comfort in my life without Him. I look to Him for everything and
He has blessed me way beyond what I deserve! Thank you dear Jesus for
directing my life!
What Does GGQ Mean to Me?
The Glory Gates Quartet is a major part of my life. As the leader of
the group, there are major responsibilities about which I need to be
concerned, not the least of which is how we present ourselves as a
ministry glorifying God and enjoying Him with our audiences. Our music
ministry has taken on a life of its’ own through God’s direction. Since I
started GGQ on April 1, 2001, we have developed a commitment to Jesus
Christ to spread His gospel to wherever He leads us. Presto! He has given
us an unbelievable ministry in Romania! What the dickens? What an impact
that has been on my life. I encourage you to visit the “Romania” link
within our website to check out what we are doing and why! The website is
ever growing and always being updated!
I love being with Bob, Rob & Tim. Some practice nights we don’t even
want to quit & go for hours and hours singing at the top of our lungs!
Since I have retired years ago, this has been my passion. GGQ means
everything to me, but make no mistake about it, we select songs with very
meaningful words, so that we can best reach our audiences with the gospel
of Jesus Christ. Southern Gospel music offers the most meaningful words
that share the gospel of Jesus Christ in the best and most meaningful
ways! That’s why we love that music so much.
We have done some extra cool things, like sing the
National
Anthem and
God Bless
America at a University of California,
Irvine baseball game. One of the coolest events our GGQ has ever done
was to perform the
National
Anthem at the Los Angeles Lakers’
basketball game on Friday, January 27th, 2006 when they played against the
Golden State Warriors in the
Staples Center in front of
18,000 + people!!! What a night that was!! It was an experience that I
will never forget, so please check out our website and read all about it
and then watch the video of us performing there! How much fun can one guy
have?
Family & Life
Oh brother!! This is where God has gone way overboard! What a great
wife I have in Barbara. I know that she goes crazy listening to me sing
and work on music every day, but she is very proud of the GGQ and our
ministry. I have a tall, handsome son, Chad, who is a computer genius, but
actually can do just about anything! He is married to a wonderful woman,
Amy and they love each other so much and are looking to start a family
soon. I have a wonderful, beautiful daughter; Jill & the greatest
son-in-law a guy can ever have in Ross. But, the best part of my life is
my 3 grandkids, Jacob, 14, Beau, 12 & Alyssa 9. They are everything to me!
We now have a special person living with us. Mihaela, who
Barb and I love dearly, was brought back with us from our Romania 2004
trip. She is now a part of the McIntyre family and life has
drastically changed for her. Click here to see a picture of my family.

Church
We have attended the Christ Community Church of Laguna Hills, CA for 29 years! Since we moved out here from
Chicago, IL, we have never attended anywhere else. In fact, all 4 guys in
our quartet attend this church, except now Rob and his family are going to
the Taft Avenue Community Church (formerly
called EFC of Orange, as it is much closer to their home in Yorba
Linda. We couldn’t be happier with our church and pastors. The fellowship
is awesome, but the messages straight from the Bible are awesome!
Current Life Events
Luckily, I am retired, or I wouldn’t know how to fit work into my
schedule, which is totally taken up with the GGQ, Church activities, being
the chairman of the church’s Construction Committee and the project
manager of the church’s Arise & Build expansion project, Tuesday morning
Bible Study, our ministry in Romania, golf, tennis and the grandkids
activities!
Thank you Lord, for all of your blessings and giving me such a
wonderful family, friends & life!
